In
1901, the Imperial German Army staged an abortive
raid on New York City.
At the climactic battle of Central Park,
Nikola Tesla introduced the world to his newest
invention — a weapon capable of hurtling a
lightning bolt.
Unfortunately, during the battle the
lightning cannon was destroyed and Tesla gravely
injured.
Future
president Theodore Roosevelt was also present
during the battle, and though the weapon failed to
inflict any damage on German forces, Roosevelt was
impressed enough to fund further development of
the weapon. Tesla-patent
lightning cannons were eventually installed in a
number of coastal defense batteries.
Notes
on Design: The lightning cannon is based
upon a TL9 C-PAW. There has been a little tweaking
of the design to get it to fit the proper
steampunkian parameters.
