This device generates a bubble of space-time through a wire mesh around the enclosed volume wherein time runs far slower than in the external universe.  The generator has a built-in timer that will automatically drop the field at a preset external time (anywhere from 5 minutes to billions of years) — the internal passage of time is measured in fractions of a second. An active generator produces a perfectly-mirrored enclosure along the mesh that surrounds the generator and its designated volume.  Placing a working stasis field generator within another stasis field generator will cause both to shut down, though this can take anywhere from an instant to several hours.
