Description
This spell creates a permanent point of light, as bright as daylight
(SR = 3 meters). This spell can be cast upon an object (making
a permanent bright lamp), a point in space (within 40 meters of the
caster), or upon a living being. If the latter, the being
rolls an Average: Agility task to avoid being permanently blinded.
If the target succeeds, the point of light flashes into existence
about half a meter behind the individual.

Backlash
If, during casting, the spell-caster rolls a
Catastrophic Failure, the caster (and anyone with him) is
permanently blinded by an incredible flash of light. The
actual light point winks out afterward.

Background Notes
Before the creation of electric lights, many
spell casters used this spell to light subterranean retreats.
Some magical lanterns still exist, mostly in the tombs of ancient
emperors. Some have found there way into modern collections.
