Description
Carbide is a powder which reacts with water to
produce flammable acetylene gas. It is used in certain lamps and
lanterns, particularly miners' headlamps. Carbide is nonflammable by
itself, which makes it safer if the lamp is dropped or damaged. It
comes in sealed tins.
