Description
A Bangalore Torpedo is a charge used for clearing
a path through obstructions, such as
barbed
wire or mine fields. Bangalore Torpedoes
come in cases of 10 sections, each 1.5 meters long by 5.5 cm in
diameter and packed with four kilograms of explosives. In
addition, the case contains "nose cones" and attachment sleeves
allowing the sections to be connected to one another, and
detonators.
The charge is prepared by
connecting one or more charges, attaching a nosecone to the lead
charge and pushing it into the obstruction. The detonator
(consisting of blasting caps and several meters of wire, is attached
to the tail end of the last charge. The charge can then be
detonated when the emplacing team is clear. The detonation
will clear a footpath through the obstacle 1D6 meters wide and as
long as the combined charges (1.5 to 15 meters).
