Even though it is set in the
Space
1889 universe,
Dark Æther is very much a game of subterfuge,
espionage and conspiracy. There will be few, if any, military or
military-style operations. The equipment available to adventurers
will reflect this, being geared toward espionage and small-team
operations. However, as
Dark Æther is a
Space
1889 campaign, the realities of that setting mean that occasionally
military equipment might find its way into the adventurers' hands.
While the price in British pounds
is given, the campaign is oriented to North America, and so the
price is also given in American dollars.
Note: We
have elected to maintain the game's timeline at 100 years in the
past. The campaign's current year is 1910. The equipment
list reflects this. TL 3 and TL 3M weaponry has been
discounted 30 percent. TL 4 weaponry has been discounted 10
percent.
Starting Money For each eligible term, multiply the
character's Social Standing or Gambling Asset (whichever is greater)
by 10 to determine the character's starting money in dollars (divide
the result by five to determine the starting money in British
pounds).
