Background
Named for the famous Roman physician,
the House of Galen is unique in the Empathic Underground of the late 19th
and early 20th century. The House refuses to take sides in the
Wizards' War and has
declared it will treat either side impartially. This neutrality has
made the organization's chapter houses ideal spots for negotiations
between the two sides.
Unfortunately for the House, no
government recognizes its neutrality, or even its right to exist.
Governments hunt House members as readily as they do other Empathic
cells. Because of this, the chapter houses have all gone
underground. However, in keeping with its charter the House
has been known to treat wounded government agents.
It is rumored the House has
connections to the Empathic Railroad, though this would seem to
violate its neutrality.
There are chapter houses in most
major cities, and in some rural areas. Most member of the
local Empathic Underground will know the location of these chapter
houses, though they will probably be unwilling to divulge this
information to strangers.
